Be Relaxed:

Remember Dots is a strategy game and like all strategy games, you need to be relaxed in order to achieve a high score. If you’re getting frustrated while playing the game, the best thing to do is to do something else for a while.

Pick a Suitable Board:

The starting board is very important if you want to achieve a high score in the game. If you don’t see a good starting board with lots of combinations, just restart your game till you find a board that you like.

Don’t be Afraid to Restart a Game:

Since every Dots combination you do get can be utilized to get power ups, just restart a game if you don’t see a good score happening. This way you will keep your hot streak rolling without getting frustrated.

Use Power ups Wisely:

Power ups can affect your high score significantly if used correctly. While their correct usage may vary from situation to situation, it’s always a good practice to use:

• Time Stops only if you’ve beaten your high score already.
• Expanders to give yourself a bit of an extra boost near the end of a game.
• Shrinkers to make that amazing Dots strategy combo. Also, whenever you do want to use shrinkers, just double tap the dot color you want to be eliminated from the board. It saves you some precious microseconds.

Remember to stock up on your power ups before you start playing as buying them in between will only affect your momentum.

MAKE SQUARES!:

This is perhaps the best Dots strategy there is! Make squares. Don’t go for rectangles or big combos by carefully planning them out. Just make squares! They ensure that you get the best score you can out of a game. Oh, but if you see one or two extra dots that you can attach to your already made square, don’t hesitate and go for it but if not, JUST MAKE SQUARES!
