How to Mirror your Android Device to TV using Chromecast

Google Chromecast is a very cheap and effective way for streaming content to your TV especially for those of us who love to live in the cloud. However, up till now we didn’t really have many choices to choose from as the app only allowed streaming from limited sources. All of that changed when Google released Chromecast SDK to help third party development. If that wasn’t enough, Google also has finally went ahead and released the most requested feature for the app yet: Android Screen Mirroring.

How to Mirror your Android Device to TV using Chromecast

Yes, you can finally stream anything from your Android phone to your TV and watch it irrespective of the fact whether it’s legal or not. Though the only downside is that as of right now this version of the app (or this feature to be more precise) is only compatible with a few devices (only 14) that are running on Android 4.4.1 or higher.

The whole process is amazingly simple and after you download the .apk of the file (click here) and flash it to your phone, the rest of the steps are fairly simple: Slide out the “hamburger” menu from the Chromecast app and tap “Cast Screen”. Or alternatively, if you’re on a Nexus device, you can simply do this from the Quick Settings menu as well.

I did test the feature out and frankly finally saw a real time application of my Chromecast device after a very long time. Not only was I able to mirror my screen perfectly, I was able to watch anything my heard desired without screaming in agony at the dongle.

So, if you do own a Chromecast device, do think about trying the feature out if your device is one of the 14 supported devices (you can check the list of the supported devices as well as the official guide for the process over at the Chromecast Help Post) as it will totally rock your world.
