When it comes to endless runner games, on one hand you have the classics such as Temple Run, Jetpack Joyride etc. which are made to give players a feeling of joy and accomplishment every time they play them. While on the other hand, you have Flappy Birds and its clones. Flappy Birds; the game which infuriated so many users that it was pulled from all possible stores from its developer. However, the damage to the genre was done as countless other Flappy Birds clones soon emerged in the market, mimicking the same sprite recycling, head banging strategy of its predecessor. A recent addition to these clones is the release of a game called Ship Up.
Review: Ship Up – Dodge Meteoroids in Space, Flappy Birds Style
Ship Up is an endless runner game, which borrows its concept from Flappy Birds. However, instead of using the same old concept of making things fly between two pipes, the developer has taken the whole thing one step further and set the whole thing in outer space.
For those of you who are still having a hard time figuring out the premise of the game, well it lets players take control of a spaceship which must fly through a series of meteorites. The more meteorites you evade, the more points you score. Of course it sounds pretty easy on a piece of paper but trust me once you do start to play the game, you’ll end up spending countless hours trying to get past its wicked challenges.
The control scheme is somewhat different from the original game and instead of making players tap the screen to make the spaceship fly, the game has them tapping the sides of the screens to make the spaceship evade oncoming meteors left and right. While the graphics of the game are also pretty standard though to be honest I’m a bit glad that the main protagonist isn’t something cliché as Doge, or a piece of cheese.
So, if you’re a person who loved the original Flappy Birds and were always wondering what would happen if that game was set up in outer space, well this is your chance! If not, I quite sincerely would advise many users to avoid the infuriating headaches, fits of anger and the addiction that this game might induce.
